The soon to be norm

So we have been here for 4 days straight now and it has been awesome! We have created some real bonds with these kids. Everywhere we go someone is calling our name. I’m so thankful to have Ash with me to actually be able to speak to these kids instead of just the few things I know. I will be VERY thankful once I know the language too!

Besides building relationships the week has been pretty uneventful. I’ve been working in the computer lab and managed to fix 5 computers that were previously not working. There is only one computer left that will have to remain broken until I can buy the parts when we come back. I have figured out how we will redo the webpage and found a good template to use. The challenge is going to be doing it in both English and Spanish.
The other day while the work team was working on the school building the kids found a bucket of oil based paint and went to town on it. I guess since they saw us covered in paint they thought it would be OK for them too, but oh man…. Since it’s oil based these kids are STILL covered in the stuff after many many scrubbings. It was secretly very funny but you don’t want to encourage bad behavior so every time one of them walks by me I just shake my head at them ☺ There punishment was to go cut the grass.
The work team from Calvary has accomplished A LOT in the time they have been here. The school is starting to look like a school with classrooms and everything! We went and worked with them one day and wow was it hard work. Not only was the actual work difficult, but the fact that it felt like it was 100 degrees certainly made it much more difficult!!
We all went to church last night at a little place down the road. We got to share our testimonies and the group from Calvary sang for them. Everyone there was touched by the testimonies. The message was about how we are all brothers and sisters regardless of skin color.
This weekend we will most likely be heading back to Tegucigalpa to take the team to the places we went last weekend (AFE, detention center, etc).
Please pray for our translator Oscar as he is developing a very nasty cough. I’m worried he’s getting pretty seriously ill. Also please continue to pray for continued health and strength for us as well.
In Christ
Justin
